Frank Meeres  

Biography

Frank Meeres came to Norwich in 1974 as an archivist at the Norfolk Record Office and fell in love with the city at first sight. Born in Exeter and educated at Newton Abbot Grammar School, he is a graduate of King's College, University of London, with the Diploma in Archive Administration from the University of Liverpool.

He became a Senior Archivist at the Norfolk Record Office in 1986 and is presently the Education and Outreach Officer.

He has organised and listed several series of important archive groups relating to the history of the city and for the past 15 years has had special responsibility for the records of the Dean and chapter of Norwich. Having sorted and catalogued the cathedral archives, he wrote the Guide to the Records of Norwich Cathedral, published in 1998. In 1997 he became Borough Archivist for Great Yarmouth and has produced a series of Factsheets about the history and records of Yarmouth.

He is well known for the many exhibitions he has organsied and for his talks and evening classes on the history of Norwich and the work of the Norfolk Record Office. A keen supporter of Norwich City Football Club he is proud to have followed the team throughout England and Europe.
